My other serve hours were done at the BCM serving students and especially freshman students. At the beginning of the semester, we had a group of upperclassmen from the BCM sign up to help freshman in Boling dorms move there stuff in their dorm. We helped freshman move for a couple hours and I enjoyed talking to students and their families about my experience and answering any questions they had. In addition, I helped the BCM with welcome week events such as coffee bar, snow cone/cotton candy day, cookout, glow in the dark dance party, and goody bags for the first day of classes. Lastly, throughout the semester I have helped the BCM serve lunch to students and UTC staff every Wednesday afternoon. Both the Salvation Army and Salvation Army has made my introvert self more courageous and comfortable with talking to strangers and working through my nervousness when meeting new people.
